Mississippi Braves News Release

GREENVILLE, SC -- The youngest player in the Southern League, Greg Miller (1-0), pitched well beyond his years Friday evening as he struck out a career high 14 Greenville Braves over seven innings of work to lead the Jacksonville Suns to a 6-0 win at Greenville Municipal Stadium. The 18 year-old allowed only two hits to Ramon Castro en-route to the first "AA" victory of his career.

The Suns got a pair of runs in the first two innings off of Greenville starter Daniel Curtis (2-3). Shane Victorino ripped the second pitch of the game deep over the right field signage for a leadoff homerun. In the second, Derek Michaelis picked up a one-out double and came around to score on a Tony Socarras single.

Curtis would settle down and retire 11 straight over the next four innings, but the Greenville bats could not get to Miller as no G-Brave made it past second base all night long.

The Suns got to the Greenville bullpen and tacked on two runs in both the eighth and ninth frames on six singles and two walks.

Greg Bauer and Jason Frasor pitched the final two innings to preserve the shutout for the visitors. The relievers struck out three more G-Braves to give Greenville their highest strikeout total of the season.
