
G-Braves Thomas Named SL Player of the Week

Greenville Braves center fielder CHARLES THOMAS has been named the Southern League "BC Powder Hitter of the Week" for the seven-day period ending August 7th. Thomas a native of Asheville, NC, and a graduate of Asheville High School, batted .440 (11-25) for the week with four doubles, one triple and five RBI. He is currently riding a 13-game hitting streak, the longest by a G-Braves player this season.
The streak is especially noteworthy since it encompasses all 13 games Thomas has played in since his promotion from "A" Myrtle Beach on July 31st. Since his return to the "AA" level he is batting .456 with nine doubles, four triples and nine RBI.
Thomas is spending a portion of a second season with Greenville. He was drafted by Atlanta in the 19th round in 2000 out of Western Carolina Universtiy.
