Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.-Third-baseman Brad Miller has re-signed with the Traverse City Beach Bums for the 2009 season.
Miller hit .244 in 2008 with a team-high 10 home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, and tied for the team-high with 53 runs-batted in as the squad's everyday short stop.
Miller's most memorable night of the 2008 season came on Sept. 1 against eventual Frontier League champion Kalamazoo. The former Milwaukee Brewers farmhand hit for the natural cycle, culminating in an 11th-inning walk-off home run to down the Kings 6-4.
"We are thrilled to have Brad back in Traverse City for the 2009 season," said Beach Bums director of baseball operations Jason Wuerfel. "He is one of the best defensive shortstops in the Frontier League and proved he can hit in the clutch last year, as shown by his team-leading 53 RBI."
An Ada, Okla. native, Miller spent 2006 and 2007 with the Brewers organization, playing with the short-season Helena Brewers before being promoted to the Class-A West Virginia Power. The right-hander hit .200 with seven doubles and two homers with Helena and batted at a .231 clip with six doubles and two home runs with West Virginia.
"At only 23 years old, he has three professional seasons under his belt and is a leader on and off the field," continued Wuerfel. "He is the mixture of talent and attitude that everyone is looking for and we are lucky to have him."
Miller was one of the best junior college players in the country at Cowley County Community College in Kansas in 2005 and 2006, hitting .379 as a freshman while also pitching his way to a 9-2 record on the mound.
