Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
FRANKLIN, Wis. - The Milwaukee Milkmen finished up their series against the rival Lake Country DockHounds by sweeping Lake Country in the final Sweet Teats game of the year.
For the third straight time this series, Milwaukee got out to an early lead in the first inning. Gabriel Cancel and Miguel Gomez collected base hits that scored both Cam Balego and Roy Morales while Drew Ward then grounded out to bring home Cancel. The Milkmen led 3-0,
Milwaukee's defense then took over and went up to the sixth inning giving up just two runs. Both went to starting pitcher Christian Young but he finished his day with six strikeouts in his six innings of work to put himself in a great position to earn the win.
With the game 3-2, the Milkmen added some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to protect their lead. Michael Crouse smashed a solo home run before Morales singled to bring home Aaron Hill. Nate Hadley then closed out the game in the top of the ninth to earn the save and seal the victory for Milwaukee 5-2.
"I think this was a pivotal series on the year, Milkmen manager Anthony Barone said of the sweep. "We were on a little bit of a slide but it was nice to come back home. We had three really good crowds this weekend and the guys answered."
The Milkmen will now go on a six-game road trip. They will play three games in Sioux City before coming back to Wisconsin to play at Lake Country. They will then return home with a seven-game homestand to wrap up the regular season. We hope to see you soon!
Tickets are on sale at MilwaukeeMilkmen.com or at the Franklin Field Box Office prior to the game.
