Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
FRANKLIN, Wis. - The Milwaukee Milkmen offense broke out of their slump with an 18-hit performance that powered them to a 13-6 win over the Kane County Cougars.
Kane County got to an early lead by scoring two runs off of starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman in the third inning, but the Milkmen bats then burst through in the fourth.
Milwaukee started the inning with three straight hits from Drew Ward, Roy Morales, and Miguel Gomez. Then after a walk and a sacrifice fly, the Milkmen put together a string of four hits from Rudy Martin Jr., Reggie Pruitt Jr., Bryan Torres, and Cam Balego. By the end of the inning, the Milkmen scored seven runs on seven hits to take a commanding lead.
Zimmerman then gave up one more run in the fifth innings before capping off his day which eventually earned him the win. The Milwaukee bullpen then combined to give up three more runs in the afternoon.
The offense continued to score however, plating one in the sixth, two in the seventh, and another three in the ninth as Milwaukee closed the game with a seven-run victory.
"Guys came in relaxed, energized, and they had good at-bats," Milkmen manager Anthony Barone said of the offensive performance. "They've been working hard and today they played looser and relaxed."
The Milkmen will now have a day off before heading down to Gary SouthShore to take on the RailCats. After Milwaukee wraps up that three-game series they will return to Franklin Field next Friday to host the Lake Country Dockhounds. We hope to see you soon!
