Mike Thompson Named Defensive Player Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY (January 28, 2009) --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Buffalo Bandits goaltender Mike Thompson has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the third week in a row that a Bandits goaltender has been named Defensive Player of the Week. Thompson made 58 saves in Buffalo's 10-9 victory over the Minnesota Swarm last week. The 58 saves were two short of the Bandits franchise record set last season by Daniel Sams. The effort has placed Thompson third in the league with an .818 save percentage and eighth in the NLL with a 10.00 GAA. Fellow Bandits goaltender Ken Montour leads the league in both categories with an .879 save percentage a 6.00 GAA.

The Bandits will play their second of three-straight road games tomorrow against the Edmonton Rush at 9 p.m. Fans can watch the game on the NLL Network at NLL.com by following the link on www.bandits.com or catch the action on WWKB 1520 AM.

Buffalo's next home game is Saturday, February 14 against the Toronto Rock at HSBC Arena.
