Edmonton's Dan Teat named Player of the Week
January 28, 2009 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
Edmonton's Dan Teat has been named Overall Player of the Week. Teat came up strong in both of Edmonton's games in Week 4, tallying a combined five goals, seven assists and nine loose balls. He was especially strong in the Rush's 11-9 victory in Colorado on Saturday night, scoring three goals and notching four assists in the winning effort.
Boston's Dan Dawson has been named Offensive Player of the Week. Dawson racked up 14 assists in this past weekend's home-and-home series with Philadelphia to go along with one goal and 12 loose balls. His ability to get the whole team involved was a big reason for Boston's first two wins in franchise history as they swept the Wings.
Buffalo's Mike Thompson has been named Defensive Player of the Week. Thompson limited previously undefeated Minnesota to nine goals over 60 minutes while making 58 saves, just four shy of the NLL record. This marks the third consecutive week in which a Buffalo goaltender has won the award, with Ken Montour taking the honor the past two weeks.
Portland's Tyler Codron has been named Transition Player of the Week. Playing in front of the home crowd at the Rose Garden, Codron helped lead the LumberJax to their second win of the season by contributing three goals, two assists and ten loose balls.
Boston's Daryl Veltman has been named Rookie of the Week. Veltman followed up his Week 3 Rookie of the Week performance with an even stronger encore in the Blazers' home-and-home with Philadelphia. He ended the weekend with six goals, five assists and 18 loose balls.
The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's 12 teams.
