Portland Lumberjax News Release

PORTLAND, January 28, 2009 - Portland LumberJax transition player Tyler Codron has been named the National Lacrosse League's Transition Player of the Week for the fourth week of the season, the league announced today. In a 15-10 thrashing of the Edmonton Rush last Friday in Portland, Codron scored a career-high three goals, collected 10 loose balls and finished with a career-high five points.

"Tyler is a top notch, shut down defender, but he's adding the element to his game that we were pretty sure he had when we drafted him in 2007, that being great skills in transition," said Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan. "He's a great athlete with a tremendous attitude and he's gaining more confidence with every game he plays. I believe his best is still to come."

On the season the Port Coquitlam, British Columbia native has scored five goals, added three assists and scored eight points. The second-year pro has also collected 33 loose balls.

The Jax (2-3) travel to Boston to meet the expansion Blazers on Saturday, January 31st at 4:30 p.m. PST at the TD Banknorth Garden. The game can be seen free as part of the NLL Network. To access the broadcast, go to PortlandJax.com.
