Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that 20-year old winger Mike Hoffman has been added to the team's roster effective immediately. Hoffman has been designated for assignment by the Ottawa Senators, who drafted the Kitchener, ON native in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Saint John acquired Hoffman's rights on June 5, 2009 in a trade with the Drummondville Voltigeurs. The Sea Dogs dealt away a second round entry draft pick in 2010 in exchange for the veteran sniper's services.
Hoffman scored 52 goals with Drummondville last season, the second-highest total in the entire QMJHL. The 6'0", 175 lb, winger has tallied 124GP-76G-66A-142P-179PIM over the course of his two full seasons of major junior hockey with the Voltigeurs and Gatineau Olympiques. During the 2009 President's Cup Playoffs, Hoffman netted 21 goals and dished out 13 assists in leading Drummondville to a league title.
The Sea Dogs' next game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday night at 7pm versus the P.E.I. Rocket at Harbour Station. Tickets to this match are available by calling the arena box office at (506) 657-1234.
