Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers midfielder Brian Farber was selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 6, it was announced today by United Soccer Leagues. Farber scored his second goal of the season in a 2-1 win over the Rochester Rhinos last week.
Farber, 27, tallied the go-ahead goal for the Timbers in the first half against Rochester on May 14 at PGE Park. The Rhinos leveled the score in the 66th minute, but the Timbers pulled out the victory on a late, game-winning penalty-kick goal by Ryan Pore.
A native of Sandpoint, Idaho, Farber is tied for the team lead with two goals and ranks among league leaders in both points (4) and goals scored. His selection in Week 6 is his second Team of the Week nomination this season.
The Timbers travel to Puerto Rico for a set of games against the Islanders on Friday at 5 p.m. (Pacific) and Sunday at 4 p.m. (Pacific). A live broadcast of both matches will be available online at www.portlandtimbers.com, with a live video webcast available through USL Live - now a free service at www.usllive.com.
