Timbers' Pore Named USSF D-2 Pro League Goal-scoring Champion

PORTLAND, Ore. - U.S. Soccer announced today that Portland Timbers midfielder Ryan Pore was named the 2010 USSF Division-2 Pro League Goal-Scoring Champion as the league's leading goal scorer. He finished the regular season with a league-best 15 goals.
In addition to leading the league in goals, Pore, 27, also led the league in scoring with 35 points and ranked among league leaders with five assists.
With the Timbers joining Major League Soccer in 2011, Pore was announced as one of the club's first MLS player signings Tuesday. In the race for the USSF Division-2 Pro League goal-scoring title, Pore edged out forward Eddie Johnson, who was also introduced as one of the Timbers' first MLS players. Johnson scored 14 goals during the regular season with the Austin Aztex and added another goal during the postseason.
Pore becomes the second player of the Timbers' second-division era to lead the league in both goals and scoring in the same season. He is the first Timbers player to win the league's goal-scoring title outright; three previous Timbers players were named co-champions. He is the third Portland player to finish as the league's scoring leader, following McKinley Tennyson (2002) and Mandjou Keita.
A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Pore's 2010 campaign was highlighted by USSF Division-2 Pro League April Player of the Month honors, scoring six goals in the opening month of the season. He tallied four game-winning goals, totaled a league-high 84 shots and became just the third player in the Timbers' United Soccer Leagues/USSF Division-2 Pro League era to record 10 or more goals in back-to-back seasons. Following the regular season, Pore was voted by fans as the 2010 Timbers Supporters Player of the Year.
