Cleveland City Stars News Release

Cleveland, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars have two members on the Week Six USL First Division Team of the Week as defender Troy Roberts and Midfielder Joshua Boateng have been honored for their efforts in the City Stars 1-0 victory over the host Minnesota Thunder on Saturday.

Roberts was sensational from his center back spot and contributed to the City Stars best defensive performance of the season. Roberts has stepped right in as a defensive leader since joining the City Stars this season from the L.A. Galaxy of MLS and Saturday was another strong performance from the California native.

Boateng was honored for scoring the lone goal in the 1-0 victory. After subbing into the match in the second half, Boateng scored his first professional goal just 15 minutes later. The rookie MLS draft pick was highly regarded coming out of Liberty University but had been out of the lineup since the opener. Saturday's performance proved what the City Stars were missing with Boateng out of the lineup as the Cleveland attack seemed to have an added dimension working through Boateng.

"This is the second consecutive week that we've had multiple players on the team of the week and its fitting because our performance has been much better as of late," said Cleveland City Stars General Manager Mark Geissbauer. "Troy has been a rock for us from the beginning and he led a great defensive performance in the win. It was also great to get Josh back on the field and see the excitement and creativeness that he brings to the lineup. Getting a victory at Minnesota was good for us and now we're anxiously awaiting our return to Middlefield Cheese Stadium this Friday."

The City Stars return home Friday May 22nd for an 8 p.m. match with the Carolina RailHawks and former coach Martin Rennie. The match will be nationally televised by Fox Soccer Channel.
