
Middle Infielder Signs With Jacks

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today the signing of INF Benji Solano to a contract. To make room for Solano on the roster, the Jacks released RHP Ashton Stone.
A San Diego, CA resident, Benji is a career independent player. He played his rookie year with the Valley (AZ) Vipers of the Western League in 2000, before moving to the Long Beach (CA) Breakers in 2001. That season the 25 year-old hit .250 with 15 RBI and 10 stolen bases. He drew 24 walks, while striking out just 15 times in 164 at-bats. The Breakers won the Western League Championship in 2001.
Benji rejoined the Breakers in 2002 before signing with Cananea of the Arizona-Mexico League this season where he hit .423 with 2 RBI for the Mineros before the league disbanded two weeks ago.
Stone was 0-0 with an 11.57 ERA for the Lumberjacks in three appearances.
The Lumberjacks are back at Mahaney Diamond on Tuesday night against the North Shore Spirit for Two for Tuesday. General Admission and Reserved Tickets are buy one, get one free. Tickets are available by calling the Lumberjacks Ticket Office at 207-947-1900 or by stopping in the Lumberjacks Pro Shop located in the Bangor Mall. First pitch is at 7:15, gates open at 6 PM.
