Michal Gut Named Alternate Captain of Czech Republic

EVERETT, Wash. - Everett Silvertips forward Michal Gut has officially been named an alternate captain of the Czech Republic team for the 2022 World Junior Championship. Montreal Canadiens prospect (and current Hamilton Bulldog) Jan Myšák will lead the team as captain, with David Jiríček also serving as an alternate captain.

Gut, an '02-born native of Kladno, is making his second appearance for the Czech U20 World Juniors squad, having played in three games representing his native country in 2021. He also captained the Czech U17 team at the 2018-19 World Hockey Challenge.

Having played in 24 WHL games this season, Gut ranks tied for second on the Silvertips in scoring with 32 points in 24 games. Nine of his 25 assists on the season have come on the powerplay, a mark that leads the team.

The Czech Republic will square off against Ronan Seeley, Olen Zellweger and Hockey Canada on Dec. 26 at 4 p.m. Pacific time. Everett head coach and general manager Dennis Williams is currently serving as an assistant coach for Hockey Canada.
