Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON, July 3, 2014)- The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce that General Manager Michael Oke and Head Coach Jody Hull have agreed to three-year contract extensions. The Hockey Operations duo will be under contract until the conclusion of the 2017/18 season.
Under Oke, the Petes have compiled a record of 40-36-0-6 including one playoff series win. Since taking over as GM, he has made several significant moves including the acquisition of forwards Hunter Garlent and Josh MacDonald, and a total of five players chosen in the OHL Priority Selection during his two-year tenure have been invited to participate in Hockey Canada's various National Team Selection Camps. Oke was named the Petes' General Manager mid-way through the 2012/13 season after serving as Interim GM for four months. He was the Petes' Manager of Player Personnel from 2010 to 2012.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue the process we started two years ago, and I would like to thank the Petes Board of Directors for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading junior hockey's most storied franchise," noted Oke. "I'm very excited about what lies ahead for our organization and truly enjoy working with a fantastic group of people in both the Petes' Hockey Operations and Business departments."
Hull was named Head Coach in December 2012 after completing two stints as Assistant Coach between 2010-2012 and 2005-2008, capturing the OHL Championship in 2006. He has led the Petes to a 50-42-0-9 record as Head Coach, and has been invited to serve as Assistant Coach for Canada's National U-18 Hockey Team at the 2014 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament in August after winning Gold with the National squad at the 2013 IIHF U-18 World Championship in Russia.
"I'm grateful to Jim Devlin and the Board of Directors for the opportunity to extend my tenure with the Peterborough Petes," added Hull. "I am excited to continue developing our players and working with Mike Oke and the rest of the hockey staff to put a quality team on the ice for our loyal and deserving fans."
"The Board of Directors is extremely pleased to extend Mike and Jody's contracts," noted President Jim Devlin. "This extension ensures stability in our organization, and current players and prospects can have continued confidence in the Hockey Operations department moving forward. Mike and Jody have done a great deal to improve the operations of the Peterborough Petes, and we felt this was the right time to show our appreciation for their hard work."
