Miami Snaps Slammers Four Game Winning Streak

Pelham - Manatees newcomer Greg LeColst made a statement in his second game with the Manatees as he was one of two Manatees to score hat-tricks in a 7-3 win over the Alabama Slammers in front of a capacity crowd at the Pelham Civic Complex Saturday night.

Getting the Manatees on the board just :57 seconds into the game, LeColst would go on to score two more goals and three assists to tie former Manatee Eric Perricone for points in a game with six. Slammers forward Ryan Prentice scored in the first period to get the Slammers on the board but Alabama still trailed Miami 3-1 after one.

Alabama's Doug Lawrence scored early in the first period to make the score 3-2 but Manatees Dan Donnette scored to make it 4-2 in favor of Miami half way through the second period. Slammers Hugo Belanger scored at the fourteen minute mark to pull the Slammers within one but Manatees LeColst scored in the final minute of the second period to restore Miami's 2 goal lead going into the third and final period.

It was all Miami in the third period as the Manatees scored two more goals snapping Alabama's four game winning streak with a 7-3 victory.

Weaver, making his first start against the Slammers, turned aside 30 of the 33 shots, while Alabama's Fred Beaubien made 34 saves on 41 shots.
