Florida Seals News Release
Lakeland, FL â A four-goal second period and five different goal scorers lifted the Orlando Seals over I-4 rival Lakeland 6-0 at the Lakeland Center Friday night in WHA2 action. Seamus Galligan lead the Seals with two goals and an assist in the victory.
Mike Correia posted his second shutout of the season for a 3-1-1 record.
After a scoreless first period, defenseman Mike Fournier gave Orlando the lead at 2:10 of the second with his first goal of the season. Lakeland's Gilbert Dionne turned over the puck to Fournier who teed up a slapshot low to the stick side of Carl Poissant to put Orlando up 1-0.
Jason Elders put the Seals up 2-0 just 1 minute, 34 seconds later with his 11th goal of the season from Brad Federenko and Ryan Anderson. Tyler Murray replaced Poissant in net for the Loggerheads following Elders' goal but the goaltending change did nothing to stop the Seals barrage.
Galligan made it 3-0 Orlando at 7:28 of the second when he converted on a rebound in the slot in front of Murray for his 5th of the season. Galligan added another goal in the third for his first two-goal game of the season.
Joe Pecoraro and Simon Duplessis also tallied goals for the Seals, who improve to 15-5-2 with 30 points, good for second place in the standings. The Seals trail Jacksonville by three points in the race for first place.
The Seals look to move within one point of the Barracudas Saturday when Jacksonville invades the TD Waterhouse Centre for a 7:35 pm faceoff. Orlando caps its big weekend with a matinee game Sunday at 4:05 pm against Lakeland. All games can be heard at www.IRN.FM.
