Miami FC Hosts Hartford Athletic on Saturday, April 16

Miami, Fla. - The Miami Football Club faces Hartford Athletic at FIU Stadium on Saturday, April 16. Miami FC defeated Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium for the first time ever on Saturday and looks to retrieve another three points in league play before facing Inter Miami CF at home in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.

Coming off an away win at Tampa Bay

The Orange and Blue arrive at FIU Stadium to play Hartford Athletic on Saturday after finding their first Florida Derby win on the road.

Manager Anthony Pulis' side displayed versatility, playing a five-back formation. A goal from winger Pierre Da Silva in the early stages of the second half and effective defending throughout the match were enough to get Miami three points on the road.

As a result, the South Florida side sits seventh in the Eastern Conference after five games. Only two points separate the Miami FC side from the Tampa Bay Rowdies and FC Tulsa, two sides that have played one more game than Miami.

Goalkeeper Connor Sparrow recorded his 20th USL Championship regular season clean sheet against the Rowdies. Additionally, the 27-year-old made a bench appearance in Matchday 5's Team of the Week bench.

Kyle Murphy expected to make his 150th regular-season appearance

Forward Kyle Murphy is one USL Championship regular-season appearance away from reaching 150. The Red Hook, N.Y., native could reach the milestone if he steps on the pitch during the 90 minutes against Hartford Athletic. Murphy has recorded 45 goals and ten assists in his seven seasons in the league, including an all-time high 20-goal season with Memphis 901 last year.

The 29-year-old striker scored his first goal wearing Miami colors from the penalty spot in the U.S. Open Cup second round against Miami United on Wednesday, April 7. Murphy is still on the hunt for his first league goal of the season.

About Hartford Athletic

Hartford Athletic enters its fifth game of the season with a single point after losing all its games other than a one-all stalemate against the Rowdies on March 26. The Connecticut side lost 2-1 against Pittsburg Riverhounds, Atlanta United 2 and Birmingham Legion.

On the bright side, the team managed to score in all its competitive games this season. Like Miami FC, Hartford Athletic advanced to the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after beating local side Oyster Bay 3-1. Therefore, manager Harry Watling will also Hartford's midweek cup match in the back of his mind during his visit to South Florida. The team will host New York Red Bulls.

Miami FC will host Major League Soccer's Inter Miami CF at FIU Stadium for the first edition of the Miami Clásico on Tuesday, April 19. The two sides meet in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.

Inter Miami faces MLS Western Conference foe Seattle Sounders on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. They enter that match at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with four points after six games.
