NYRB II Hosts First-Time Opponent Rio Grande Valley FC

New York Red Bulls II News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II (1-4-0, 3 points) will host Rio Grande Valley FC (1-4-0, 3 points) on Friday, April 15. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
New York will look to win its first match at home this season, as it is coming off a 3-2 defeat to FC Tulsa on April 2. Rio Grande Valley will look for its first victory away from home, as it fell 2-1 to Indy Eleven in its last match on April 9.
Red Bulls II saw a seven-save performance from goalkeeper Derrek Chan in the Tulsa match, setting a record for a goalkeeper making their New York debut. The club also received goals from midfielders Jeremy Rafanello and John Murphy.
The Toros are led by forward Frank López, who has scored three of their four goals this season. Former Red Bulls II defender Wahab Ackwei has appeared in four matches and logged 278 minutes.
The match marks the first-ever meeting between the clubs, with New York holding a 11-14-7 record against first-time opponents. Rio Grande Valley is one of three first-time opponents that New York will face at home this season, with the other two being San Diego Loyal SC and New Mexico United.
Following the match, Red Bulls II will remain home to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, April 23. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
