Mets Host Clearwater Threshers at Tradition Field

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (May 19, 2014) - The St. Lucie Mets return to Tradition Field to host the Clearwater Threshers in a four-game series beginning Tuesday.

The Mets enter Monday's final road game at Lakeland just 0.5 games back of the Fort Myers Miracle for first place in the Florida State League South Division. The Threshers have had a trying season so far. The Class A-Advance affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies has the worst record in the FSL entering Monday at 9-31.

The Threshers are led by the No. 11 prospect in the Phillies system, catcher Andrew Kapp. Kapp was a second round pick in last year's draft out of California.

The Met have the top offense in the league. T.J. Rivera leads the FSL with a .378 batting average and 62 hits. Second baseman Dilson Herrera is batting .400 in his last 10 games and has eight multi hit games in his last nine games.

St. Lucie will be looking to get back on track at home. The Mets are just 11-11 at Tradition Field this year and have lost eight of their last 12 home games.

As fans watch the Mets battle for first place on the field, they can take advantage of tremendous deals around Tradition Field.

Tuesday is $2 Tuesday with $2 beer and soda. Fans who follow @stluciemets on Twitter can show proof at the box office to receive $2 tickets.

Wednesday is Education Day. First pitch comes at 10:30 a.m. against the Threshers. School kids from all over the Treasure Coast will be on hand, but adults are also welcome to take the day off of work and enjoy a morning ballgame.

Thursday is Dollar Night. From 5:30-7:30 p.m. draft beer is $1. Soda and hot dogs are also on sale for just $1.

The home stand against Clearwater end on Friday which is TGI Funday Night. Ladies can enjoy $3 well drinks and $2 beer at the Tiki Bar from 5:30-7:30 p.m. All kids club members get in from free and there is a postgame fun run around the bases for kids 12 and under.

Games on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday begin at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening an hour before first pitch. Wednesday's game starts at 10:30 a.m.
