
Mets Fall to Marauders

St. Lucie Mets News Release
The St. Lucie Mets could not contain the Bradenton Marauders offense Tuesday night at Digital Domain Park. The Marauder had eight hits on the night but were able to capitalize on defensive miscues and five walks to score 13 runs. The 13-1 loss drops to the Mets to 29-31 on the first half of the season
Jeurys Familia got the start for the Mets looking for his first win of the season. After retiring the first six batters he faced the Marauders got to Familia. The first five hitters of the third inning reached base while recording only one hit. Bradenton plated five runs in the frame putting the game all but out of reach. Marauders pitcher, Brian Leach shut down the Mets offense. Leach tossed seven innings of shutout baseball allowing only four hits while striking out eight batters. Trailing 11-0 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Mets finally got on the board. Wilfredo Tovar singled in Raul Reyes for the lone Mets run of the night. Reliever Jimmy Johnson surrendered a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to cap off the scoring with the Mets trailing 13-1.
The Mets and Marauders close out their series Wednesday night at Digital Domain Park. Robert Carson gets the start for the Mets. Carson is 4-4 with a 5.07 ERA in 12 appearances. Carson leads the Mets with 43 strikeouts.
