Matt Bowman pitched six innings and struck out seven to earn his first win in his Florida State League debut as the Mets defeated the Daytona Cubs 13-3 on Tuesday.
The Mets(20-11) won their fourth straight game and have won the first three games of the series between the two teams.
Bowman allowed three runs and six hits and issued just one walk.
The Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth. Dustin Lawley hit a solo home run to left to make it 1-0. Travis Taijeron lined a home run to right to extend the lead to 2-0. Charley Thurber ripped an RBI triple to right to extend the lead.
Aderlin Rodriguez drilled his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left in the fifth.
The Mets pulled away with an eight-run seventh inning, highlighted by Thurber's bases clearing three-run double.
The Mets will host the Cubs(16-15) on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the series finale. Alex Panteliodis will make his second start with the Mets.
