New York Red Bulls News Release

SECAUCUS, NJ (Wednesday, March 1, 2006) - The MetroStars announced today that they have signed Canadian National Team midfielder Adrian Serioux. Per MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old Serioux joins the MetroStars after spending the last two seasons with Millwall of the Coca-Cola Football League Championship in England, which is the division just below the English Premiership. During his time with Millwall, Serioux appeared in 12 games, along with two appearances in the English Carling Cup. The 6-0, 180-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario made his Canadian National Team debut in a World Cup Qualifier against Guatemala on August 4, 2004. He has totaled eight caps in his international career to date.

"Adrian is a hammer," said MetroStars President and General Manager Alexi Lalas. "He kicks anything that moves and has an efficient grace with the ball. We needed some ferocity and bite in our midfield to compliment the ‘artistic' side and we think Adrian is just what the doctor ordered. My only concern is finding someone who can translate Canadian."

Serioux started and played 84 minutes in an international friendly versus the United States on January 22, 2006, successfully marking U.S. standout Landon Donovan in a 0-0 draw. No stranger to the tri-state area, Serioux played two years of collegiate soccer at the University of New Haven in Connecticut in 1998 and 1999.

Following his stint at New Haven, Serioux moved on to the Toronto Lynx of the A League from 2000-2004. As a member of the Lynx in 2001, Serioux garnered Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named to the League's all-star team.

Serioux fills the MetroStars fourth and final Senior International slot on the club's roster, joining Youri Djorkaeff (France), Amado Guevara (Honduras) and Peter Canero (Scotland).
