MetroStars Lose to Wave
January 5, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Mississauga MetroStars News Release
The Mississauga MetroStars conceded twice within the first six minutes of the game and could never make up the deficit as the Milwaukee Wave kept their unbeaten streak intact thanks to an 8-2 victory over the host MetroStars in a Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) match at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Saturday afternoon.
Ricardinho Sobreira scored the first two Wave goals then added a third in the third quarter to pace the visitors to the win. Canadian Robert Renaud also scored and contributed an assist for the Wave who improve to 5-0 while the MetroStars slip to 2-5.
Mo Babouli, with his seventh goal of the season, had brought the MetroStars to within two early in the second quarter but the Wave led 4-1 at the half.
After the Wave had increased their lead to 5-1 early in the third quarter, Damion Graham cut the deficit again for Mississauga but Ricardinho's hattrick goal would increase Milwaukee's lead further. Canadian Ian Bennett and Alex Bradley netted goals late in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring for the Wave.
Wave goalkeeper Josh Lemos, a native of Toronto, ON, left the game with an injury late in the third quarter and did not return to the game.
The MetroStars complete their four game homestand next Friday, January 11, when they face Eastern Division rivals Utica City FC at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, with kickoff set for 7:35pm (ET).
