MetroStars Host Heat Saturday
March 8, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Mississauga MetroStars News Release
The Mississauga MetroStars close out a mini two-game homestand at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Saturday afternoon when they face the Harrisburg Heat for the fourth time this season in a MASL Eastern Division clash.
? ?Last Sunday, the MetroStars (3-14) led the Baltimore Blast through 45 minutes before suffering a lapse in the final quarter and losing 5-4 to the defending league champions. Forward Matthew Rios led the team in scoring with a goal and an assist while newcomer Raheem Rose netted a shorthanded tally in his MASL debut.
? ?Harrisburg (6-10) meanwhile split its weekend doubleheader last week, earning an 8-5 decision over the Ambush in St Louis before losing to the Comets 7-6 the following night in Kansas City. Heat midfielder Dom Francis scored four goals across the two games to earn a selection as a substitute to the MASL Team of the Week for Week 14. Team scoring leader Ricardo Carvalho collected a goal and four assists in those two games.
? ?The MetroStars hold a slight edge over the Heat in their head to head matchups so far this season. Mississauga has beaten Harrisburg twice at home, recording a 7-6 victory on December 30 and a 6-5 win on February 17. The Heat however earned a 9-5 win at the PA Farm Show Arena on February 24.
? ?Meanwhile, MetroStars co-captain Dwayne De Rosario has been announced as one of the 2019 inductees to the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. The four-time MLS Cup champion and MLS MVP joins a prestigious list of inductees that includes former NHL stars Denis Potvin and Paul Henderson as well as ex-Toronto Blue Jays executive Paul Beeston. The induction ceremony and awards gala will be held in Toronto on October 21.
? ?De Rosario will be in uniform for the MetroStars when they face the Harrisburg Heat at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Saturday, March 9 with kickoff set for 3:05pm (ET). The game will be streamed live on MASL.tv at MASLsoccer.com.
