Baltimore Players to Watch:
Midfielder Jonatas Melo continues to lead the Blast in points (25) this season, which ranks fifth in the Eastern Division. Melo also leads the team in goals (15) after scoring the game-tying and game-winning goal versus Mississauga last Sunday. Midfielder Tony Donatelli leads all Blast players in assists this season with nine so far. Forward Vini Dantas leads the team with 1.8 points per game, which ranks third in the Eastern Division.
The Blast defense has been consistently one of the best in the MASL this season, ranking fourth in the MASL with 4.65 goals allowed per game. A large part of this has to do with defender Jereme Raley, who continues to lead the team in blocked shots with thirteen this season. Goalkeeper William Vanzela can move into sole possession of fourth all-time in wins by a Blast goalkeeper, passing Keith Van Eron with a win on Sunday. Vanzela has recorded a 4.29 goals against average and a .725 save percentage this season, which both rank fourth in the MASL. The Blast currently have an 11-6 record on the season with a 7-2 record at SECU Arena.
The Blast will be without Lucas Roque and Daniel Peruzzi as they recover from their knee injuries. Defender Adriano Dos Santos will miss this Sunday's game as he serves the last game of his two game suspension. The Blast are coached by Head Coach Danny Kelly and Assistant Coach David Bascome.
The Competition - Kansas City Comets
Kansas City looks to enter SECU Arena and defeat the three-time defending champions through their elite offense. The Comets currently have the second best offense in the league in terms of goals scored per game with 7.19. A large part of their offensive success has been down to Comets Forward Leo Gibson. Gibson enters the weekend ranked second in the league in points (43), third in assists (22), and fourth in points per game (2.7). Midfielder Bryan Perez ranks third on the team in points scored this season with nineteen.
The Comets also boast the best power play offense in the league with a 64.5% success rate. Defender James Togbah has scored a league leading six goals on the power play this season, while teammates Leo Gibson and Lucas Rodriguez are tied for third in the MASL with four power play goals. Defender John Sosa provides the second most assists in the league from a defender with fifteen so far this season. Sosa has claimed 23 points on the season, ranking second among all Comets players. The Comets have a 9-7 record on the season and a 3-3 record away from home.
The Kansas City Comets are coached by Head Coach Kim Roentved and Assistant Coach Jeff Davis.
