Messner Named to WJAC's U.S. Junior Select Team

MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols, a member of the United States Hockey League, announced that forward Mick Messner was named to the U.S. Junior Select Team set to compete in the World Junior A Challenge in Bonnyville, Alberta from December 11-17.

Messner, 17, has three goals and six assists for nine points (3-69) and eight penalty minutes in 16 games with the Capitols this season. His three goals are rank second on the team, his six assists are in third place, and his nine points are tied for third place. The 5-foot-11, 193-pound native of Madison, Wisconsin, collected four assists in 27 games with the Capitols during the 2015-16 season. Messner is committed to play with University of Wisconsin-Madison for the 2017-18 season.

A total of 21 players from 12 different USHL teams are represented on the roster, and 20 of the 21 players are currently committed to NCAA Division I schools.

The Capitols travel to face-off with the Sioux City Musketeers at Tyson Events Center at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23.
