Derek Merlini scored 3:22 into overtime to lift the Erie Otters to a 5-4 victory over the Owen Sound Attack in an Ontario Hockey league game played tonight in front of 4,379 at the Tullio Arena. Ryan O'Marra paced the Otters offense with two goals and an assist on the game winner. Geoff Platt and Chad Loikets each aded a goal and an assist. Platt extended his point-scoring streak to five games (6-3-9). Sean O'Connor registered two assists. Jonathan Lehun led the Attack with a goal and two assists. Payton Liske, Patrick Jarrett and Mike Angelidis scored the other Owen Sound goals. The Otters collected their third straight win to improve to 4-1 on the season. Owen Sound dropped their third straight, and second-in-a-row to the Otters, to sink to 4-4. The Attack led 3-1 after one and 4-2 heading into the third. O'Marra and Loikets scored with 1:20 second of one another midway through the third to force overtime. Josh Disher started and allowed three goals on 16 shots in the first. Jhase Sniderman took over after the first and allowed a single goal on 24 shots. The three stars of the game were 1. O'Marra; 2. Lehun and 3. Loikets.

The Otters return to action this Friday in the first of three straight on the road when they travel to Plymouth to face the Whalers. The game can be heard live on SportsRadio 1330 The FAN and at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Compnay) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m. The weekend also includes stops in Windsor Saturday afternoon and Guelph Sunday afternoon. The next Otters home game takes place Friday, October 22nd when the Toronto St. Michael's Majors visit the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets for the game are on sale at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Erie Civic Center Box Office.
