
Mercury Waives Guard/Forward Brittany Spears

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury waived guard/forward Brittany Spears, the club announced today. The roster now stands at 12 players. The final 11-player roster is due to the league office on Thursday, June 2.
Spears, a 6-1 rookie from Colorado, was drafted by the Mercury in the second round (19th overall) of the 2011 WNBA draft.
The Mercury opens the 2011 season on Saturday when it travels to Seattle to take on the defending WNBA champion Storm. The game will be broadcast on ABC with tipoff slated for noon PT.
