
Mercury salute mothers with Mother\'s Day ticket special

Phoenix, Ariz. - The Phoenix Mercury announced today a special ticket offer to honor all mothers for Saturday's preseason game vs. the Seattle Storm. The "Phoenix Mercury Mother's Day Special" will entitle all mothers to a complimentary ticket with the purchase of an additional ticket, valid only at the America West Arena Box Office. The May 8 preseason game will feature the 2004 No. 1 draft pick Diana Taurasi making her professional basketball debut as she matches up against her former collegiate teammate, Sue Bird.
"We believe this is a great opportunity for our young fans to treat their mother's to something truly special," said Mercury Chief Operating Officer Jay Parry. "The entertainment value of Mercury game is second to none and what a great way to say âThanks' to mom for all she's done for you. The Phoenix Mercury is more than just great basketball, it's fun for the entire family."
The Mercury is also asking fans to participate in the University of Phoenix' s "Open Your Hearts to Newborns in Need" national campaign. Fans can make donations of diapers, bottles, blankets, crib sheets or cash donations, directly benefiting mothers and families "at risk" through Banner Health's five valley hospitals. Donations will accepted at the Paseo entrance, on the east side of America West Arena.
The Mercury will begin their eighth season on Thursday, May 20th when they host the Sacramento Monarchs. The Mercury's 17 game home schedule runs May 20 through September 19. Single game tickets are on sale now at the America West Arena Box Office, all TicketMaster outlets, online at TicketMaster.com or phoenixmercury.com. Lower level season ticket packages for the 2004 Mercury season start at just $189 and guarantee the same great seat for all 17 regular season home games. Individual game tickets range from $8 to $100 per game.
