
Mercury Clinch 2019 WNBA Playoff Berth

PHOENIX - The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury will aim for a league-record tying fourth WNBA Championship this postseason after the team tonight clinched its franchise-record seventh consecutive playoff appearance (2013-2019), 11th in the last 13 seasons and 14th in franchise history overall.
The Mercury sealed its berth tonight by virtue of the team's win over the Atlanta Dream. Already the winningest postseason coach in franchise history, Mercury Head Coach Sandy Brondello has now reached the playoffs in all six season at the helm of the Mercury, one of only two current heads coaches to reach the WNBA Playoffs in every season since 2014 with the same team (Cheryl Reeve - Minnesota).
If Phoenix finishes as the 4th seed, the Mercury will earn a Round 1 bye and host a Round 2 single-elimination game at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Sunday, September 15.
If Phoenix finishes as the 5th or 6th seed, the Mercury will host a Round 1 single-elimination game at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Wednesday, September 11.
If Phoenix finishes 7th or 8th, the team will play on the road in Round 1 on Wednesday, September 11.
Game time and opponent are still to be determined.
Tickets will go on sale when playoff dates and rounds have officially been determined.

After coming within one win of trip to the WNBA Finals, the Phoenix Mercury return in 2019 in search of a league-record tying fourth WNBA title. Led by the All-Star trio of Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner, Phoenix looks to continue its title quest on August 29 against Atlanta.
