ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Memphis Redbirds (64-77) won tonight's game 8-0 against the Round Rock Express (Triple-A Rangers) after it was called in the sixth inning due to unplayable field conditions following tonight's rain- storm.

Deck McGuire picked up his seventh-win of the season, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits on the night while fanning four. McGuire had not won as a starter for the Redbirds since June 17. In his last four starts combined, he has only given up four earned runs in 23.1 innings while fanning 28 batters and issuing just four walks.

The newest player on the Memphis roster, Chris Rivera, hit a two-run homer in his second-career Triple-A at-bat to give the Redbirds a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Rivera was also one of two Redbirds to score twice tonight. Before being promoted to Triple-A, the 21-year-old had played in 13 games for State College and 33 games for Palm Beach this season.

The Memphis Redbirds as a team were 13-for-28 (.464) at the plate tonight and were 7-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Also, eight of the nine players in the Redbirds lineup tonight got at-least one hit. David Washington and Nick Martini each went 3-for-4 at the dish and Washington had two runs batted in. In this series against Round Rock, Washington is hitting .417 (5-for-12) and has a home run, three runs batted in and has scored twice.

Patrick Wisdom went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Wisdom was one of three players for the Redbirds to have a multi-hit game on the night.

The Redbirds play their final game of the 2016 season against Round Rock tomorrow at 12:05 p.m. (CT). AutoZone Park will host the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game on Sept. 20.
