Memphis 901 FC Takes a Commanding 5-0 Win Over La Galaxy II

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Memphis 901 FC took a commanding 5-0 win over LA Galaxy II on Saturday night. Memphis tied the franchise's largest margin of victory and moves to 7-2-1 on the season while going 6-0-1 when scoring first.

In the sixth minute, Memphis got their first look at the goal with Jeremy Kelly, a USL Championship Team of the Week honorable mention, and Phillip Goodrum taking back-to-back shots on goal inside the box, both narrowly saved by Richard Sanchez.

Laurent Kissiedou was once again in the right place at the right time as Memphis took the early lead. 901 FC took advantage of their corner kick, sending the ball into the box as Goodrum flicked the ball to Kissiedou's feet before hitting the back of the net in minute 14.

Aaron Molloy, a USL Championship Team of the Week player, doubled the lead as he took a shot from the top of the box off a quick pass from Kelly in the 19th minute. Memphis showed dominance early, holding possession and capitalizing on the chances created.

901 FC added another goal in the 45th minute, as Kissiedou sent a cross from the left side of the box with Kelly taking a one-touch shot to lead 3-0 in the first half. Memphis dominated on the offensive end taking 11 shots with six on target in the first 45 minutes.

Memphis had its fourth player score as Goodrum headed the ball inside the box to the bottom right corner of the net off a cross the Galaxy defense from Patrick Seagrist in the 58th minute.

David Egbo tallied his first goal of the season, taking a one-touch shot off his left foot from the left side of the box to the center of the net off a pass from Seagrist, marking his second assist of the night, in minute 83.

LA looked for opportunities throughout the second half but was unsuccessful in piecing together plays as the Memphis defense held strong, taking away shots and passing lanes to control the match.

Memphis 901 FC travels for their second match of the week to Segra Field on Sunday, May 22 vs. Loudoun United FC. Kickoff is at 3PM CT.
