Memphis 901 FC Signs Former MLS Midfielder Emerson Hyndman

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 FC announced on Friday the club has signed former MLS midfielder Emerson Hyndman for the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval.

With the signing, Memphis brings in a distributor with top league experience in the Scottish Premiership and 51 appearances in the MLS with Atlanta United. The veteran joins the Beale St. Boys with ties to Head Coach Stephen Glass, as a regular starter for the manager during their time in Atlanta.

"We're delighted to add Emerson to our group," Stephen Glass said. "Since coming in to train, he has enjoyed our environment and what we have to offer. To be able to add an international player with his experience to our roster is great for what we're trying to do."

A former US youth international standout, the Dallas, Texas, native signed with the youth academy at English side Fulham at age 15 before moving to Rangers F.C. and Hibernian F.C. of the Scottish Premiership in consecutive seasons. The Dallas native joined Atlanta United in 2019 and recorded four goals and six assists across 51 appearances from 2019-2022 and helped the club win the U.S. Open Cup and Campeones Cup in 2019.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to join Memphis 901 FC and eager to start competing out there with the guys," Hyndman said. "They have a lot of quality and I hope to contribute to the great season they're putting together so far. I know Glassy from our time together at Atlanta United as well, so it seemed to be the perfect fit! Looking forward to getting on the pitch again."

Hyndman will be available for selection in the club's match against Louisville City FC on Saturday, June 10 at Lynn Family Stadium. The match set for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff is available to stream on ESPN+ and WMC Action News 5 Plus locally.
