Back in Copa Tejas: SAFC hosts a Copa Tejas opponent for the first time this season, after going 4-0-1 with two shutouts against Copa Tejas foes (El Paso and Rio Grande Valley) last season. Both shutouts came against El Paso, as SAFC swept both the Copa Tejas trophy for head-to-head record against El Paso and RGV, as well as the shield, which is awarded to the USL Championship, MLS, NWSL or USL League One side with the highest point-per-game total.

Riding High with Rida:Midfielder Rida Zouhir has been on a hot streak, scoring in the last two matches for SAFC. In just four appearances with the team, the 19-year-old loanee has scored twice and assisted once, earning Team of the Week honors for week 13.

The Lamar Batista Show:After making his SAFC debut against Oakland, centerback Lamar Batista has been on a tear. Batista scored twice and assisted in the season opener, and has earned a spot on the team of the week four times to start the season. Batista leads the league with 66 clearances. Within SAFC, Batista leads the team, or is tied for the lead, in interceptions (30), tackles (45) and blocks (8).

"I think the interesting thing about Copa Tejas is that it's not a separate competition than from the league, you know, the points count the same for the league as they do in Copa Tejas. So, it's just about staying level headed, going game by game and hopefully we do get to lift Copa Tejas. That was the first trophy we lifted last year and it was a great feeling and we want to win it again."
