Memorial Day Weekend Off to a Good Start for Pensacola

The Pensacola Pelicans turned in solid pitching and clutch hits to win game one of a three-game series against the Shreveport Sports 10-4. Another solid crowd of 2,151 were on hand to honor the military with free camo hats and a fly-over.

The Pels were led by Marcos Rodriguez who finished 4-5 with 3 runs scored, two RBI and was a homerun away from the cycle. Nathan Warrick also had 4 hits and Trino Aguilar continues to see the ball well as he hit his 3rd homerun in as many days.

On the mound, Todd Androsko got his first win on the season throwing 5.2 innings. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits with 5 strike outs.

The Pelicans started the first inning scoring 4 runs with hits from Warrick, Chaz Lytle, Rodriguez, and Aguilar.

Pensacola put another four spot on the board in the 4th inning capped off by Aguilar's two-run homerun to left center. At the end of the 4th, the Pelicans held an 8-1 lead. Pensacola added one run in each 5th and the 6th inning.

Shreveport scored one in the 5th and two in the 6th, a two-run home run from Justin Humphries, to make the final score 10-4.

Game two begins Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. at Pelican Park.
