Motor City Mechanics News Release
FRASER, MI-Kris Vernarsky nets the game-winning goal with under four minutes to play to give the Mechanics a 4-3 win tonight and set a new record for wins in a season at the Great Lakes Sports City.
The Fury got on the board first when Robin Bouchard fired a shot past Rod Branch. The Mechanics never wavered and scored two straight with goals from Adam Edinger, who netted his 45th and 46th goals.
The teams would then trade goals the rest of the way as Kris Vernarsky put one past Fury Goaltender, Nick Boucher and net the eventual game winner.
Rod Branch broke his own record set last year by appearing in his 64th game. Last season Branch made 63 appearances in the inaugural 2004-05 season. Branch made 39 saves for his 36th win of the season.
The win tonight also breaks another record set last season. Last year the Mechanics won 37 games, with the win tonight the Mechanics now have 38 and are only one point away from breaking last seasons point total of 81.
