Mechanics add Ramsey and Smith to the roster

FRASER, MI- The Motor City Mechanics, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL) are pleased to announce two more additions to the 2005-06 roster, rookie forwards Mike Ramsay and Julian Smith.

Julian Smith, 26, is no stranger to the Motor City, having played for the Detroit Whalers, now Plymouth Whalers from 1996-2000. During those four years Smith compiled 49 goals, 66 assists for 115 points in 192 games played.

In 2004-05 Smith had his best year to date compiling career highs in goals (17) assists (30) and points (47).

Mike Ramsay, 20, spent time in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes from 2001-03 and played his past two seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Last season was Ramsays' best to date when he tallied a career high in assists (28) and points (54) with the Victoriaville Tigres.

"Mike is a hard working player and brings energy to the lineup," said Mechanics Head Coach, Danton Cole. "Julian's a rookie but has experience playing in the OHL, Canadian University hockey and last year in Italy," said Mechanics Head Coach, Danton Cole. "We look for both of them to contribute."

The Mechanics now have nine players signed for the 2005-06 season. All-Star Defenseman, Kevin Hansen, former Michigan State Spartan Defenseman, Chris Bogas, returning Center, Chris Gignac, Forward, Mike Burgoyne, Ukrainian Right Wing, Konstantin Kalmikov, Goaltender, Rod Branch and rookie Forward, Peter Szabo are all under contract for the upcoming season.

The Mechanics open the 2005-06 season October 21st when they visit the Missouri River Otters and come join the Mechanics when they open up at home against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday October 28th.

Every fan that enters the Garage will receive a complimentary opening night collectible game puck sponsored by McDonald's. Opening night is also a youth hockey celebration as all youth teams are encouraged to come join the fun and participate in the first intermission team parade, and meet McDonald's own, Ronald McDonald!
