Komets to play Fort Wayne fire department for Hurricane Katrina victims

Fort Wayne, IN - Current and former Komet players have banded together to play the Fort Wayne Fire Department hockey team in a benefit game for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The game will be held at McMillen Ice Arena in Fort Wayne Wednesday night Sep. 7, 2005 with all of the proceeds going to the American Red Cross to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina which has devastated the Gulf Coast regions of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Skating for the Komets will be Kevin St. Pierre, Colin Chaulk, Danny Stewart, Blake Stewart, P.C. Drouin, Guy Dupuis and Dustin Virag, all members of the 2005-06 Komet roster. Former Komet players playing for the Komets in the benefit game will be Dan Price, Paul Willet, Grant Richison, Ian Boyce, Carey Lucyk, Doug Rigler and Steve Fletcher. Serving as Komet coaches will be former Komet Sean Venedam and current Komet Rob Guinn.

Former Komets playing with the Fort Wayne Fire Department will be Kevin Bertram, Jim Logan, Kelly Hurd and Parris Duffus.

Providing trainer services will be the Komet's athletic trainer Shawn Dundon and equipment manager Joe Franke will be on hand donating his time assisting as well.

Also making an appearance will be Komet mascot Icy D. Eagle and on hand to sing the National Anthem will be the Komet's National Anthem singer Tom Didier.

McMillen Ice Arena has a capacity of approximately 1,000 seats and admission is a $5.00 donation taken at the door starting at 6:30pm. Opening faceoff is expected to be at 7:45pm. Security will be provided.
