Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards General Manager and Coach Brian Curran announced today that defenseman Jami Yoder has been signed by the team. Yoder played 67 United Hockey League games last year with the Richmond Riverdogs and the Kansas City Outlaws. He scored two goals with 13 assists for 15 points with 38 penalty minutes in the 2004-05 season.

The 27-year old defenseman is a veteran with 523 games of pro hockey experience. Yoder has played in each of the three "Double-A" hockey circuits (United Hockey League, ECHL and Central Hockey League). He has 25 goals and 125 assists for 150 points in his pro career. In 2003-04, he set a career high in goals (seven) and tied a career high in points (24) with the CHL's Odessa Jackalopes.

The Hershey, Pennsylvania native previously played for Mallards Coach Brian Curran with the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 Monroe Moccasins. Yoder was part of a team that earned Curran Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) Coach of the Year honors in 1999-00. In 2000-01, Yoder established a career-best with 21 assists and 24 points.

"Jami is a veteran who leads by example," said Curran. "He's a good player on and off the ice who will encourage younger players. He's also one of the premier shot blockers in any league."

Yoder is the sixth addition to the Mallards roster. Yoder joins goaltenders Jason Tapp and Terry Friesen, defenseman Joel Pullman and forwards Patrick Nadeau and Glenn Detulleo on the 2005-06 Mallards team.
