
McTamney Named Pitcher of the Week

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Rockford RiverHawks relief pitcher Mike McTamney is the Northern League's Pitcher of the Week.
McTamney went 2-1, with a 1.59 ERA in four relief appearances for the week that ended August 8. He recorded six strikeouts without a walk in 5.2 innings of relief.
McTamney picked up his first win of the season last Tuesday when he pitched a perfect ninth inning in Rockford's 6-5 walkoff win last Tuesday vs. Schaumburg. McTamney allowed only one run in the week, a solo home run to Travis Brown, in a 6-3 loss to Schaumburg last Wednesday.
McTamney is the fourth RiverHawk awarded by the league this year. Brett Durand was the Pitcher of the Week for June 13-19, Patrick O'Sullivan was the Player of the Week for June 28-July 4, and Jason James was named Player of the Week for July 12-18.
The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season.
