(Calgary) - Today, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club announced that Offensive Lineman Jay McNeil has been selected as the teams President Award Winner. This is the second time Jay has received this award and the fifth Offensive Lineman, since it's inception 39 years ago. He is only one of three players to be recognized as back to back winners. The first was Quarterback Danny Barrett (1989-90) and was second Linebacker Alondra Johnson (2001-02). Bob Poley was the first Offensive Lineman to receive the award back in 1986.

"Being recognized last season for the first time was a tremendous experience," said Offensive Lineman Jay McNeil. "This year it is an even more overwhelming feeling as it's the second year in a row. I believe it to be the most satisfying individual award as it's voted upon by your teammates. These are the guys you have the outmost respect for both on and off the field and those that you build life long friendships with."

In, 2006 Jay played in all 18 regular season games including the Western Semi-Final. He was named a Western All-Star for the fifth time in his career (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006) and CFL All-Star for the third time (2001, 2002 and 2006). He was also named the Stampeder Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman for the fifth time in his career (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006).

McNeil has played in 218 career regular season games, 12 playoff and four Grey Cup Championships. Since entering the league Jay has only worn Red and White. He was drafted by the Stampeders in the fourth round (34th overall) of the 1994 CFL College Draft.

The Stampeder Football Club will hold its annual President's Ring Award Dinner in May of 2006 to recognize Jay for his accomplishments.
