Calgary Stampeders News Release
(Calgary) - In conjunction with the Canadian Football League the Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that Receiver Marcus Howell has been named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Howell showed his tremendous speed and play making ability this past week in the Scotiabank West Semi-Final. Near the start of the second quarter Howell did what no Stampeder has done since Wane McGarity back on July 26, 2003, returning a punt for a touchdown. On a 37 yard punt by Saskatchewan's Luca Congi, Howell returned it 57 yards for his first career punt return touchdown.
Later in the quarter Howell almost did it again, this time returning the punt 40 yards. He finished the game with 6 punt returns for 125 yards and a touchdown. He was also a force on kick-offs, returning 5 for 141 yards, with his longest 43 yards.
