PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Richmond Renegades and current Calgary Flames goaltender Jamie McLennan is the DirecTV NHL Center Ice ECHL Alumnus of the Month for October.
The DirecTV NHL Center Ice ECHL Alumnus of the Month is awarded to a former ECHL player currently playing in the NHL. There have been 221 former ECHL players that have gone on to play in the NHL.
In the month of October, McLennan was 4-2-0 with a 1.61 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. He posted his first shutout with Calgary and his 10th career NHL shutout making 19 saves in a 1-0 win over Edmonton on October 14. His previous two shutouts were scoreless ties, so it was the first shutout win for McLennan since January 29, 2000 when he beat Colorado, 4-0, as a member of the St. Louis Blues.
McLennan, who became a part owner of the Texas Wildcatters during the summer of 2003, picked up his first win of the season on October 11 when he replaced Roman Turek, who left the game due to injury, in the Flames' home opener, stopping all nine shots he faced in a 3-2 win over San Jose. It was the first win in over 11 months for McLennan, who was 0-10-3 in 18 appearances, including 13 starts, from November 5 until October 11. McLennan won his third consecutive game on October 21 making 20 saves in a 3-2 win at Minnesota. He picked up his fourth win in five games when he made 16 saves in a 4-2 win at Edmonton on October 25.
Selected in the third round (48th overall) by the New York Islanders in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, McLennan was 16-12-2 with a 3.72 goals against average and a .891 save percentage in 32 games with Richmond in 1991-92.
In his ninth season in the NHL, McLennan was 66-90-30 with 10 shutouts, a 2.64 goals against average and a .897 save percentage in 204 regular season NHL games through October.
