Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers' leading scorer Mike McLean has earned his first career call-up from the Lake Erie Monsters, the "AAA" affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, head coach Bill McDonald announced today. McLean is expected to play in the Monsters' three games this weekend.

McLean, 23, has a team-high 46 points and 29 assists in 47 games with the Bombers this season. His 14 multi-point games is also a Bombers best, including a career high 4-assist night on January 9 against Wheeling.

"I'm excited for the opportunity, this is why we as players are in this league," McLean said. "I've been playing well lately and want to make the most of my time there."

The 6-foot-1-inch, 195-pound Oshawa, Ontario native played the 2007-08 season with the Florida Everblades and Elmira Jackals, totaling 24 points (9g,15a) in 60 games. McLean made his professional debut in 2007 with the UHL's Kalamazoo Wings, picking up two goals and five assists in 15 post-season contests.

"I'm happy for Mike," McDonald said. "He's getting his shot and is very deserving of it at this point."

McLean is the second Bombers skater to be loaned to Lake Erie this season; rookie Justin Bowers played nine games for the Monsters last month.

The Bombers hit the road on Friday for a meeting with the Wheeling Nailers. The team is next in action at home on Saturday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. against the Johnstown Chiefs at Troy's historic Hobart Arena. Tickets are $15 and on sale at the Hobart Arena box office, www.hobartarena.com or by calling (937) 339-2911.
