Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Hudson Valley starting pitcher Easton McGee allowed only two runs over six innings, and first-baseman Jacson McGowan went 2-4 with the go-ahead RBI as the Renegades defeated the Lowell Spinners 4-2 Monday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Lowell started the scoring with two runs in the first. Second baseman Jarren Duran led off the game with a single, then went to second on another single by leftfielder Devlin Granberg. With runners at first and second with one out, catcher Jake Romanski ripped an RBI double into the rightfield corner to score Duran and move Granberg to third. The next hitter, designated hitter Kole Cottam, followed with a groundout to third to bring in Granberg and give Lowell a 2-0 lead.
Hudson Valley got a run back in the third to pull to within one. Third baseman Justin Bridgman led off with a single to left then stole second. Two batters later, shortstop Ford Proctor lined a single into left-centerfield to score Bridgman and make the score 2-1.
The Renegades then stormed ahead of the Spinners with three runs in the sixth. A walk, single and hit-batter started the inning to load the bases. Catcher Erik Ostberg followed with a sac fly to left to tie the game. With runners now at first and second with one out, McGowan grounded a single to center to give Hudson Valley the lead. After a walk reloaded the bases with two away, Bridgman coaxed another walk from Lowell reliever Danny Bethea to make the score 4-2.
McGee (4-3) got the win for the Renegades after allowing two runs on four hits in six innings. Taking the loss for Lowell was their starter Yorvin Pantoja (3-1) who allowed three earned runs on five hits over five-plus innings with four strikeouts.
McGowan was the only Renegades with more than one hit as Hudson Valley registered seven for the game. Lowell also had seven base-knocks with first-baseman Trey Ganns leading the way by going 2-4 with two singles himself.
The Renegades will take on the Spinners in game two of their three-game series tomorrow beginning at a special start time of 11:05. Righty Michael Mercado (1-0, 4.78 ERA) will make the start for Hudson Valley against fellow righty Kevin Machamer (0-2, 3.52 ERA) for the Spinners. Tickets can be purchased online at hvrenegades.com or by calling the ticket office at 845-838-0094.
