Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia makes their second visit to State College this season. The Muckdogs swept the Spikes in their last trip to Happy Valley. The last meeting between the teams came at Dwyer Stadium, where the Spikes took the series two games to one.
That was last night- A three-run home run from Robert Mullen was the difference-maker last night. They were the only runs that crossed on his watch. Batavia was able to put up one run in the ballgame, but dropped the game 4-1, and now seven of their last nine.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .307 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 162 runs against, 95 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 15 of his last 19 games. He's tallied 23 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs and is second in the league in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 27. Reynolds currently stands in fifth in the NYPL in extra-base hits
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 41 games this season, 25 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 12-13 in those games. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 22 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 5-17 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 26th, Luis Mojica was transferred to the GCL Marlins , and Tyler Kolek was promoted from the GCL Marlins
Marlins Update- The Marlins shut out the Nationals in a Sunday day game yesterday. Miami's pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout, and won the game 5-0. Jose Urena led the effort with six scoreless innings in his start only giving up one hit and striking out five.
