
McGregor Records Quality Start in Redbirds' 2-1 Win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds edged the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers by a 2-1 score on Tuesday night at AutoZone Park in the second game of three-game series.
The Redbirds (45-48) have held Omaha to one run or less in five of 10 games this season. Scott McGregor (3-5) recorded his third quality start for the win, allowing one run on four hits while fanning three over six innings.
Memphis recorded six hits, led by a 2-for-3 effort by outfielder Tommy Pham. Brock Peterson added a single and his 64th run batted in.
Brett Hayes' 10th homer of the season led off the second inning and accounted for Omaha's only run on the night. The solo job landed just beyond the left field wall.
The Redbirds evened the score in the fourth as catcher Travis Tartamella led off with single, advanced to second on an infield groundout, and scored on a Peterson single to right.
Memphis went ahead in the sixth on consecutive doubles from Jermaine Curtis and Pham.
With a pair of strikeouts over two perfect innings, reliever Sam Freeman notched his 15th consecutive scoreless outing while extending his record-setting consecutive shutout streak to 25.0 innings.Fernando Salas struck out one over a perfect ninth to convert his second save of the season.
Omaha starter Chris Dwyer moved to 6-7 with two runs in six innings of work.
The Redbirds and Storm Chasers conclude their three-game series at 7:05 pm CT on Wednesday night at AutoZone Park. Right-hander Michael Wacha (4-2, 2.71) will toe the rubber in the series final against Omaha southpaw Danny Duffy (2-0, 5.88).
