McGough, Allen and Williams Named OurSports Central USFL Players of the Week

Birmingham Stallions quarterback Alex McGough, Birmingham cornerback Brian Allen and Pittsburgh Maulers quarterback Troy Williams were named OurSports Central United States Football League Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for the playoff round of the USFL season.
McGough completed 21 of 31 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns, adding 84 yards rushing and one rushing score in the Stallions' 47-22 victory over the New Orleans Breakers, earning Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season. Davion Davis caught five of those passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory advanced Birmingham to the USFL Championship Game for the second year in a row.
Honorable mention goes to Michigan Panthers quarterback E.J. Perry who passed for 370 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, and contributed 22 yards rushing and another score in the Panthers' 31-27 loss to the Maulers in the North Division Championship.
Defensively, Allen finished with three tackles, two interceptions and three passes defensed in the Stallions' victory.
Allen played college football at Utah and was a fifth round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 and the Cleveland Browns in 2021 before being selected by the Birmingham Stallions in the eighth round of the USFL Draft.
Pittsburgh Maulers safety Arnold Tarpley III earned an honorable mention with five tackles, one interception and two passes defensed in the Maulers' overtime win over the Panthers.
Troy Williams converted one passing score and one rushing attempt in the overtime session to lead the Maulers to the USFL Championship Game.
Williams played college football at Utah and spent 2019-2021 on the roster of Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.
He signed with Maulers on September 26, 2022.
