Victor, Tezino and Johnson Named OurSports Central USFL Players of the Week

New Jersey Generals running back Darius Victor, Pittsburgh Maulers linebacker Kyahva Tezino and New Jersey Generals quarterback DeAndre Johnson were named OurSports Central United States Football League Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for week nine of the USFL season.

Victor carried the ball eleven times for 51 yards and two touchdowns, while adding one passing touchdown and one reception for 12 yards in the Generals' 37-33 victory over the Philadelphia Stars that ended their five-game losing streak and left New Jersey one victory away from making the playoffs.

Victor played for the XFL's New York Guardians in 2020 before being drafted by the New Jersey Generals where he earned USFL Offensive Player of the Year honors last season.

Honorable mention goes to Philadelphia Stars quarterback Case Cookus who completed 25 of 39 passes for 263 yards and three touchdown and led the team in rushing with 59 yards on seven carries in their loss to the Generals.

Cookus' second touchdown pass of the game covered 26 yards to Terry Wright.

Defensively Tezino recorded seven tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups in the Maulers' 19-7 win over the Michigan Panthers that put an end to a three-game losing skid and left Pittsburgh a victory away from making the playoffs.

Tezinio, who played at San Diego State, is in his second season with the Maulers.

New Orleans Breakers linebacker Vontae Diggs earned an honorable mention with with five tackles, one pass breakup and one interception which he returned 29 yards for a touchdown in the Breakers' 31-3 demolition of the Memphis Showboats.

After missing last week with an injury, Johnson had his best performance of the season with 213 passing yards, 29 rushing yards and one reception for 14 yards in the Generals' win over the Stars. His favorite target was Darrell Stewart Jr. who caught three of those passes for 109 yards. Johnson is playing his second season with the Generals.
